Under the impetus of Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud, located in the Val-de-Travers, Switzerland, where Ferdinand Berthoud (1727 – 1807) himself was born, transposes the latter’s quest for precision into contemporary watchmaking language.
The design of these modern timepieces is inspired by the original creations of the Master Horologist. Their movements combine ancestral expertise with cutting-edge technology. Two collections – Chronomètre FB 1 and Chronomètre FB 2 – are available to date, both featuring a unique pillar-type architecture and driven by a "constant force" fusee-and-chain mechanism.
Launched in 2015, the FB 1 collection is distinguished by its octagonal case and a tourbillon movement driving a central seconds display.
Our primary objective is to safeguard collectors’ interests
The Chronomètre FB 2, unveiled in 2020, features a round case housing a movement with remontoir d’égalité enabling a natural deadbeat seconds display in the dial centre. These two collections have won three distinctions at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève: the "Aiguille d'Or" Grand Prix in 2016, and the “Chronometry” prize in 2019 and 2020.
This year a new mindset is embodied by a first creation: Only 20 examples of the new Régulateur Squelette movement will be produced and housed in a choice of round or octagonal cases.
