Edouard Meylan

Edouard Meylan was born in 1976 in the Vallée de Joux, Switzerland. He was involved in the watchmaking world from a young age through his family, who have been in this field for generations. He left school in Yverdon with a science-based qualification and went on to study at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), graduating with an MSc in micro-engineering. His career, however, initially took another direction. He began as a consultant at PwC in Zurich before returning to the watch industry in 2003, when he joined Desco to manage distribution of high end independent watch brands in Asia. In 2005, he became responsible for managing the offices in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. In August 2006, he left to study for an MBA at Wharton, and at the end of 2007, he founded Celsius X VI II, a pioneering company in the luxury mobile phone sector. Thanks to his professional experience, which includes regional leadership roles for high-end independent watch brands in Asia and Europe, management consulting across various industries and founding a luxury brand, Edouard Meylan has a 360° perspective of the watchmaking business.

In April 2013, Edouard Meylan became CEO at H. Moser & Cie., a brand owned by MELB Holding. MELB Holding is a family business with the vision of being an alternative to large luxury watchmaking groups. Since starting as CEO, Edouard has brought a refreshing dynamism to H. Moser & Cie., which is now clearly positioned as an innovative, key player on the new watchmaking scene. Under the leadership of Edouard Meylan and his team, H. Moser creations have benefited from an energetic, modern approach and an air of bold distinction, while still staying true to the brand DNA of the Manufacture.

In a unique position linking traditional watchmaking with unexpected designs, product development and brand communications, Edouard Meylan is known for taking a clear and decisive stance in the watch industry. Breaking with convention, H. Moser & Cie. regularly takes a stand in favour of fine mechanical watchmaking, notably by demanding a stricter Swiss Made label or by insisting on the need to focus on traditional watchmaking at the heart of the debate on connected watches. The company has also become known for its Concept series of watches with no visible logo or index, providing a contrast to increasingly elaborate watchmaking often seen today and proving that true luxury is unmistakeable. Today, H. Moser & Cie. represents exceptional watchmaking, with traditional roots and timeless elegance, while adding a touch of well-considered provocation.
